WOMEN EMPOWERMENT
Once, there lived a poor and kind lady. Her husband died,
when she was going to have a baby. After the death of her husband she had
nothing to eat. She has to starve all the day. So, she went out in search of
job. She got a job of maid in a merchant's house. The merchant gave her a room
in his house to live in. After some days the merchant got married. His wife was
very cruel. She treated the lady badly. The lady had to work all the day. One
day she fell ill. The merchant's wife did not worry of her at all.
"Nothing has happened to you, I want to see the complete house hold work
finished. Don’t dare to leave any work incomplete. If you are not able to do
then get out of my house. Don’t show me your face again. “Ordered the
merchant's wife. The poor lady had to work in illness also. After some days the
lady gave birth to a little baby girl and died. The merchant's wife took the
baby girl "You witch, will throw you out." saying this she threw her
into a river. Luckily a boy who was playing there saw her drowning. He quickly
saved her from drowning and brought her to his father. The boy's mother also
died when he was born. His father named the baby girl Shriyam. Shriyam grew up
in that house. She had to work all the day. She believed the boy's father as
her step-father. She loved her step-father very much. When Shriyam was 6 years
old his step-father resigned from his job. They had nothing to eat. The family
had to starve. Shriyam's father decided to sell her. The next day, he sold
Shriyam to a man. The man was a bad man he was a child kidnapper. He took her
to the shop. Shriyam had to work very hard. When she was 18 years old the man
sold her to a king for one month. The king did not give her to eat and wear
nicely. He treated her like an animal. After one month the man came back to
take her. The king gave him too much money. The man got greedy. He then again
sold her to a merchant for 5 weeks. The merchant also did the same thing to
her. Shriyam started looking weak and pale. After 5 weeks the man came back to
take her. He saw her and said, “Now, you are of no use to me. Get out of my
house." This time Shriyam felt very bad. She started screaming, 'why? Why should
I go? I am also a human. Why do you treat me like this? Why? Why? ‘Saying this
she started crying and left the house. Shriyam made her house by her own. She
cut down trees in the forest and sold it. Like this she started earning money.
She then started a business of tailoring. She also teaches women while stitching
that 'we should not depend on men. We should be stronger. ‘She became an ideal
for all girls and women. One day that man came to his shop for job. She agreed
to give him some work. Shriyam could not recognize him. She was busy working.
But the man recognized her. After some time when she was checking every one's
work she recognized him. But she did not say anything to him .The man felt
ashamed of himself. He thought, "How can she keep me for this job, whom I
had treated so badly, how can she forgive me? I am very ashamed of myself. She
is a Goddess. I salute to this type of women."
